Pear Tree House
Architecture and Interior Design
Found Order is currently developing the project 'Pear Tree House', for a private residential client in Enfield, London.

We were approached in 2021 to design a new build home for holistic living in Enfield, London. The project looks to build a new 50 sqm home, on a lucious yet compact plot of land that has many mature trees and long grasses and will become open, warm and recharging space for a couple who practice holistic living, mediation and thrive on a connection to nature.
Our focus is to retain the existing mature pear tree on site, and create an open and accessible home that uses sustainable heat sources via a ground source heat pump and an underfloor heating system which reduces energy consumption compared to a standard radiator heating system.
The natural stone and sustainably sourced timber is paired with a generous helping of pistashio green via a Marmoleum flooring that is made of 97% natural raw materials and warm hand glazed vertical tiles in the kitchen. As we know and practice at FO, green is good for our sense of well-being and is linked to enhanced creativity and feeling of restoration.

The constraints of the site is that there is a single vista, which means that the design requires a single frontage to prevent overlooking.
Our design creatively responds to these constraints by providing generous ceilling heights, high level glazing and a central courtyard that provides a connection with nature in each room.
The open plan arrangement can be adapted by internal curtains, different levels of lighting on indivdual circuits and a natural pattern of movement based on our clients rituals, habits and routine.
To accompany the detailed and bespoke joinery design, additionally we have designed a solid wood dining and coffee table that are as important spatially as the Architecture and Interior themselves.
