Aztec’s Bikes

Interior Design and Architecture

In 2020 Found Order completed a newly imagined concept store for Aztec’s Bikes in Bow, East London. The designed spaces incorporate three innovative stacking towers, recalling the ancient form of Aztecan temple structures. A naturally sustainable palette of materials have been chosen to ensure reuse at the end of their design life.

The design approach was driven by an aspiration to display the bicycles as dynamic objects within the space, whilst creating a hard-working clean slate for the hub of activity in the retail areas. Working within a modest budget and tight time frame, we developed three modular timber forms that can be reconfigured to suit a diverse range of product displays. The towers are built from azure blue stained timber, which complements the material palette of exposed concrete, birch plywood, white painted block and newly installed Marmoleum Marbled floor made from 97% natural raw materials.

Collaboration is at the heart of our studio. We were inspired by the graphic design by agency JARD, who developed a visual identity inspired by the Mexican heritage of Aztec’s Bikes owners. Bauhaus Group developed and manufactured the joinery for the stacking towers.
